New set of eyes on rod.

Hi all
Lumby does make cracking rods but I'm pretty sure that he stopped doing any repairs a while ago
If you've had a few rods off him and drop them off he might do them if he's not too busy but don't think this would help with Infinitys
I've done a few ring replacements and it really isn't that hard and plenty of tutorials on you- tube
That said I can be quite utilitarian on some rods and my repairs are certainly nowhere near a pro standard but they stay put and allow me to use the rod
I have a Mk1 armalite that I got for £15 and have the same dilemma
It does the job as a pike rod but the eyes are tiny compared with modern rods and I convince myself if I change them over I will gain another 40 yards on the cast( in reality I won't notice )
Apathy tends to get the better of me mostly and only bush repairs get done But I bet it is a good feeling to do it properly yourself
I'm pretty sure you're right Paul re Lumby stopping doing refurbs on other suppliers rods. I've been buying rods from Lumby for some years now, and have at least 7 of his hand built Harrison's. He did a refurb on a couple of rods for me a few years ago, but I originally purchased them from him. I could be wrong with my previous assumption, but he's still worth a call, as you never know for sure.

Malc.
As others have said, Bob at Angling Direct Bham (formerly Fosters) does strip and rewhips. I've seen his work and he does a consistently good job but you would expect that from someone who has been at it for 40 years (more or less). If I didn't do my own builds/repairs I would trust him to do it.
Give him a call if you want advice - he knows his stuff.

Nic
