Two or three world cups back I was fishing a tough carp water, and had been putting a lot of effort in with the early season surface cruisers. One particular day I was the only one actually fishing, while the rest of the lads were gathered round a portable TV on the far bank, watching an England group match.

After a lot of feeding I had finaly got a few whackers taking mixers of the top, really going for it big time, and one of them was making a bee-line straight for the one with my hook in it...real bum twitching stuff:D

Suddenly, England scored, and the group around the TV went mad, leaping to their feet as one, punching the air and roaring like demons. Strangely, it seemed the carp were not England fans, because the surface of the lake erupted, with water flying in all directions as panicked fish crash dived and headed for cover

I do love to support our England team, especially in something like the world cup...but I hated them just a teensy weeny bit at that particular moment :D:D:D

Cheers, Dave.

Hi men ,

There are some misserable gits in the fishing world , who have only one subject to talk about , and can be quiet boring . They are the same people who "google" and link stuff .

World Cup , FACT .... 9 months to fish .

Hard one to call.

One is full of heartbreak, poor results, under-achievement, disappointment and lack-lustre performance, and the other...well, exactly the same.

With me it's just that being involved in Rugby football just doesn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong I want to see England do well but I'll be out fishing.
Now autumn 2011 will be a different story.

Nice one Dave!

Sat here and wondering what the next thread is going to be.

Maybe; Which tea bag do you prefer in your Kelly kettle? or which rod rest?

Roll on Jun 16th
Tea bags? Rod rests? The use of either tea bags or rod rests (other than those cut from the bank) is surely a sign of the decline of the British way of life?
