Kings Weir gets heavily fished most of the season, and gets filled in with bait, every dayI guess the question is, if it weighs that much now, what might it weigh at the back end of the season?? Looks like Kings Weir is in for a hammering in the next three months!
Dave
They are all known fish at kw there not that many of them….. 4 fish a season and you are tearing the place upIs this a known fish? Incredible size really
I think going by the article its from the members only syndicate stretch, which I assume is downstream of the weir? I think London anglers have the opposite bank or a bit close by?I believe it was main river and not KW?
Kings weir and the members stretch are fishable from both banks LAA is further downstreamI think going by the article its from the members only syndicate stretch, which I assume is downstream of the weir? I think London anglers have the opposite bank or a bit close by?
Incredible fish though, congratulations to the captor
Sounds like the same swim as Ray had it from.Yep the article says it was a few swims up from the bottom of the members stretch, not the weir. Last time the fish was recorded caught was two years ago.
Can only see the trend being upwards for all barbel Alex with the increasing number of mild, wet winters.Congrats to the captor. Hell of a fish!
I had a feeling that the record would go this season, with known fish coming out up & down the country at high weights very early on. Imagine it will go again - if it’s this particular specimen again, could we be looking at a 23lb+ record? Maybe!
At least three other current record coarse fish are listed as coming from un-named venues - so it isn't just barbel. The good thing is at least it has been caught from a river that has been named , better than the "secrecy" surrounding the present record which as far as I am aware is the only british record that has been accepted without the venue being released. I know where it came from as I assume most anglers on here do.
Good luck to the catcher and I for one do not celebrate it with overwhelming indifference.
Correct Tim but it was the first time the venue for the barbel record wasn't named, I understand why it wasn't but still find it sad that because of the circus who will know where it came from "normal" anglers aren't told.At least three other current record coarse fish are listed as coming from un-named venues - so it isn't just barbel.
