new free spirit rods

There great rods chris I brought 2 a few weeks ago I listed the big river one for sale on here yesterday but decided to keep it now. Also got the 11ft 1.1/2 tc that is the best in the range IMO well worth the money mate

Yes chris there full cork handle even above the reel seat also they have the slot in reel seat for isotope not sure if any other tackle shop sell them though mate.

Read something that they were a bit on the stiff side, are they Free Spirit or outsourced? This has happened with Hardy(is nothing sacred:rolleyes:) seems things are going down this road of late.

I must say neil they do seem quite a powerful blank but I prefer that then the hi-s range which seemed a bit floppy IMO

Been using their Specialist Advanced 2.25 T.C for the past 6 years, lovely through action, great rods IMO,came with just the Avon tops(no quiver)if the new model is as good they'll be a bargain :)

I prefer a blank that has some back bone too, remember my first rod was the Shimano Hyperloop, if ever there was a name that fitted that was, still got it, probably caught more Barbel on that then anything else in the days when there were a few more Barbs about.

So you might keep it for the weekend?:D

I had the same rod used it for surface fishing great rod back in the day neil

I looked at these Rob and must say they look really nice, just bought the 13ft float rods second hand and they are real nice as well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, not tried the power version yet but it looks like it will handle anything chucked at it !!

Just been using my 11ft 11/2lb this evening, lovely little rod with a nice bit of back bone.
Third or forth time I've used it, well happy.

I have the 12 ft 1-5 tc for sale it is the specialist with 3 white quiver tips.little used this rod and I am open to offers

The 11ft 1.1/2 tc one is a lovely little rod I prefer this one to my 11ft 1.75lb torrix to be honest

I brought the hi-s barbel rod last week 12ft su which is 1.75tc and first time using it today first cast hooked a barbel about 8-9lb and just before I landed it the top section snapped :( not happy especially after paying £260 for a top end rod.....will be on the phone to them first thing in the morning! Landed the barbel on the bottom section and half of the top section ha!

Sean I've got a pair of the Hi-S specilist SUs and thankfully neither has snapped but I do find them very soft and on the odd occasion have had trouble bringing barbel to the net with them.
If the new rod thats out is a bit more beefy/stiffer it might suit me better. Can any one tell me if its just an avon top of does it have a quiver top too.
Good luck in getting you rod sorted

Thanks stephen should get it sorted tomorrow! I found the rod really nice while I was playing the fish you could feel everything it was perfect untill I got the barbel to the net then it went twang!!! Must of just been a fault as freespirit have a huge reputation and lots of my friends use them and only them!

In the hi-s range the big river rod is the best IMO. Come on Clive get one of these new specialist advanced rods brought lol
