New bag

Well my old small rucksack has finally given up the ghost after one too many closed season mice attacks. I was gutted as it's been just about perfect over the last 10 years or so.
Well I was very pleased to discover pretty much the same bag for sale in the local army surplus shop in Burton and at pretty much the same price too £30. Result!
Thought I'd share a link in case any one is looking for a new bag for the season. It's so much better than the fishing branded options.

Interesting stuff, never heard of them before :)

Nice one Ian!

I'm going to get one of these for summer stalking:

Hi Andy Im after a new rucksack as my korum one is getting on a bit and i put to much stuff in it and as im getting a bit old now i need to not take so much, did you buy this bag and is it any good.

Quick question Ian, does it "stand up" for access into the pockets, or does it "lay down" like a Korum Ruckbag ? I find that the Ruckbag design is so much easier to access the contents than a traditional stand up bag .

One of my best buys this year has been the Saber compact rucksack. Really handy features such as elasticated straps for PVA tubes/flask on outer pockets, straps/clips on top for unhooking mat, stands up pretty freely on its base. Green version I paid about £35 for, DPM camo version has about £5 added fishing tax on top of that, but does look good 😁😂

Also worth mentioning the NGT tackle box (with 4 terminal bit boxes included) fits snugly in the front pocket and is also a bargain at 7 odd quid. Both items been well used this year and stood up exceptionally well 👍

had a look at a few bags yesterday at Bristol angling center and decided on the Drennan specialist compact 40ltr rucksack, Looks good fits all my gear and feels good on my back.

Sorry mate - only just noticed this. I was actually being a wally and joking about getting a ghillie hat from the same website...

I am in the market for a new bag myself now...

no worries Andy and it`s a minefield out there when it comes to bags i must of looked at about 10 at bristol angling center and was still not sure after all that. I liked the look and feel of the drennan one and wanted a bag that was not to big but also not to small and i think the drennan was perfect.
will keep you posted as i use it more.

Looks a good bag for night fishing, but not for day fishing I would of thought?

Why would it be good for night fishing and not day fishing seems a strange thing to say jim😯
