More Trouble For The Wandle..

Just heard of an oil spill into the River Wandle..Can only be bad news:mad:

It has been contained in the upper reaches , croydon area. Ea have booms an a tanker on site . Should not be too serious !!

Booms, tankers, containment - there is always some release prior to the containment measures placed & to capture this (slightly more) effectively they would have to boom a couple of sections. Even on containment still there is still release and increased flows compound things. Then there is the river span(s) from source to containment which will obviously be contaminated more.

1 pt of oil/diesel/kerosene is enough to cover approx one acre to one molecule thick. Surfacing fish do not need much to get into their gill rakes before they become distressed.

Difficult one. These things happen but hydrocarbon pollution can leave a long legacy if not completely remediated...
