Mighty Trent Day Ticket. Fiskerton v Stoke Bardolph Road

Good evening. I'm planning to do a couple of day sessions on the Trent before the end of the season. Never fished it before but have googled plenty and looked on FB etc.
At the moment I'm thinking of either Fiskerton or Stoke Road (Ashfield Angling)
Any Trent experts care to give me pros and cons to both, or other options. Don't fancy Bob's Island and not sure about A1 pits stretch.
I'm not expecting loads of late season action but want to do a couple of sessions to get a feel for it as plan to do a fair bit next season
Thanks Glyn

Fiskerton gives you the benefit of 2 day ticket stretches too. Either Barnsley DAA or Notts Piscatorials, plenty of water to go at. Tickets for both available from the Post Office in Fiskerton. We just need the weather gods to be on our side for the rest of the season!

Get yourself to fiskerton and buy your ticket in advance online for Notts Piscatorials (cheaper online and you don't have to wait for the post office to open 😉)

The top end of the stretch is a bit of a walk so travel light or take a barrow (I do both depending on how I plan fishing)

I'm not a regular there by any stretch (it's a 170 mile round trip) however I fish it a handful of times every Jan-Mar and generally do well.

If you'd like any info drop me a PM I'm happy to share what limited knowledge I have.

Thanks

Lewis

From my research the NPS Fiskerton stretch is a decent walk and a locked gate to navigate , only NPS members have a key .
The Barnsley stretch is much easier to get to some decent pegs , Post office is usually open around 06.20
Can’t help on the Stoke bit .

Fiskerton has 2 sections on day ticket, the upstream one is around 15 minutes walk from the car. The downstream one can be fished a few minutes walk from the car. Foot access to both is through gates which aren’t locked, only members can enter by car.
To fish 2 days you will need to leave the fishery as for none members it’s dawn to dusk only. A good opportunity to fish both ends.
