Matching a reel to 11ft 2lb Torrix

Hi
I’ve got a 11ft 2lb Torrix being made at the moment. Will have alps size 18 CAH reel seat.

I’ve got a 4000d already on a chimera 2 and 2 daiwa castizm feeder 25qd on my 12ft Torrix 2.25s.

Ideally looking for something size wise between the 4000d and castizm 25.

I think I’ve narrowed it down to either ss850 or ss1000 jap reels. Which do you think will be the better size? Open to other reel suggestions.

Do you find them ok? Not too big? Really torn between 850 and 1000
I prefer the 850 size for 11ft rods. It just feels a little more correct for my preference. The “balance” isn’t really a contribution factor because let’s face it unless your rolling meat, the rod is sitting on rests until you get a bite or chose to recast but the 850 represents a 4000 size reel which in my opinion suits an 11ft rod nicely.
The 1000 is more 5000 sized and I think sits a little nicer on 12’s

The shimano baitrunner 4000 is my weapon of choice for my 11ft torrix rods and currently I am quite fond of the thunnus version. It has a very very responsive clutch which is assisted with a bearing pressed into the spool and I’ve not found anything else to quite match it. Yes even my old 850’s were not as good despite them being quite known for their bottle cap design being very good

I have both 850 and 1000, and I prefer 850 on my 11ft rod. The 1000 doesn’t feel bad, but 850 just feel right on it.

But looking at current price of these reels, I’d probably go for a shimano 4000, no matter it is d or thunnus.

Thanks. I do have a 4000d already which I like but just don’t like the look. It fits my chimera 2 ok but torrix are a slightly thicker blank and it looks looks/feels a tiny bit small I find. I might just wait until I have the rod in my hand and try some reels. I have some torrix already but 2.25 12ft

I used 850, 1000 and 4000d on my 11ft 1.75lb torrix, the 4000d is perfect match. Since 2lb and 1.75lb torrix only differs in tip section, I think you will find 4000d matches it well.

i agree , in my experience the rod and reel are perfectly matched . if my 4000d reels got stolen of my torrix , id buy the same reels again (2lb tc, 11ft torrix)
