Loughborough Soar AS

They have a pool that holds some Tench. Not really big ones, but something to do in the close season, although it is a little unclear as to whether or not the pool is actually going to be open during the close season. (Council Owned)

I'm considering joining for the Tench pool (assuming the pool is open) but also wondered if the Barbel fishing is worth a go ?? I know it's not prolific and I do know one or two of the sections where they've been caught. Just wondered if anyone is, or has been a member, and could give me a heads up as to is it worth it ??

The pool is also day ticket, so I could go down that route and not become a member.

I’ve fished the soar for 30 years, the last 20 specifically for the barbel. There are fish there, but not in any numbers anymore. I’ve fished around 30 short daytime sessions in the last 2 years and have had 2 barbel, one around 7lb the other was 13.4! Take from that what you will!

Umm, pretty much the same return I had on the upper Trent. May as well just buy a day ticket for the Tench pool.

Thanks, Steve.
