Long Term Pellet Storage

Does anyone keep pellets in freezer for a long time...?

I never keep dry pellets in a freezer, ever. Air tight containers in the house works for me. I may freeze any dampened pellet feeder mix if I've a decent amount left over after a session.

I've caught barbel on elips pellets that I kept in a plastic tub in my shed (hot in summer, cold in winter) for four years.
I'm not saying that freshness isn't important, but maybe it isn't as important as some would have you believe.

cheers

Chris,
Why shouldn't I put dry pellets in freezer. Would they disintegrate after thawing...?

they dont need to be put in a freezer????why do you think they may need to go in the freezer.... as long as you keep them dry and dont let them get wet or damp you will be fine.....

Sorry, I missed the I in front of never. I'm not saying that anyone else shouldn't keep them in the freezer if they want, just that I never do.;) Not convinced that there's any need to keep a dry pellet in the freezer though.

It's just that I have spare space in freezer and got a couple of bags of pre-drilled halibuts I could hide in there.

Don't really think they need to be stored in the freezer - I too would have thought that they might break down quicker as a consequence - it might be a novel way of purposely adapting ones feed to to give different breakdown times tho! Give it a go & see what results it brings by placing both normal & frozen pellets in a glass & see how their consistency alters with time.

As mentioned as long as they are dry then they should last a fair while. Other thoughts might be that certain pellets are oil rich & will act as a mild preservative, preferably keep in a container that the light cannot penetrate, air tight, in a cooler spot - all the better
