hi all,
so the close season is here again and it's time for me to put new line on my reels. i want to stick with the same line i have been using for the last 3 years (insight gr60 10lb clear) but am having trouble finding it in the breaking strain i want unless i go on ebay, my problem is, how do you know that the place selling has not had it stored, possibly in sunlight and possibly for a long time therefore damaging the line and rendering it worse than useless?

Hi Leon - that's the risk you take buying from Ebay, I'm afraid. Perhaps perishable goods should be sourced from elsewhere? On the other hand, how do you know any supplier (tackle shop or online retailer) stores line correctly? Difficult one. I buy my GR60 from BFW, though not sure it's available in 10lb from here......

that's why I didn't want to buy from ebay, just had a look in the bfw shop and they sell it, I will be ordering some now, thanks Rich,

I've bought line off ebay and online tackle shops and never had a problem with any of it...I don't see a difference, as already stated we only have the seller's word were and how it's been stored wherever you buy it from..
 
My line of choice is 10lb BS Gardner GT80 [0.30mm dia] which I bought off e-bay and it came delivered in a nice black plastic pot....admittidly it has a clear lid but the spool fits quite snuggley in the pot so I consider my purchase has been well protected against light pollution....

I buy bulk spools of ebay and don't see the problem and if the seller is a large dealer he is not likely to store it a sunny window.:)
