Is anyone on here a member of the above club? Having recently joined I have sent several e-mails to the Secretary and the acting chairman in an attempt to find out the details of how you get onto the waiting list for the night fishing syndicate, but despite having several e-mail acknowledgements saying they will find out, I have yet to establish how it works or know if I have been added to the waiting list. Any help would be much appreciated, many thanks,
Rob.

Hi Rob, sounds a bit like it’s a “closed shop”😉 I kinda get it though? Not wanting to put you onto the waiting list until they can sound you out? To see if your a decent enough fella? But they really ought to let you know what the crack is? 🤔 quite annoying really 🤔 mate.

From my understanding you only need the night permit for the Clifton stretch the laugherton stretch which is dayticket also you can fish at night anyway
Perhaps the night permit is for people who live nearby in Lincoln don’t know where you live

I had a reply from the club today regarding night permits see below

Morning Ray,I appreciate there is a waiting list, but having applied , I cannot get an answer as to whether or not I have been put on the list,or where on the list I am !!.Many thanks,
Rob.

Earlier this year, I sent a Facebook message regarding getting onto the list. I was told to send an email, of which I did. I got a reply, and I was asked what night permit I was seeking, to which I responded accordingly. I then got a response and was told that my email would be forwarded onto the relevant person who deals with the section I was asking about. Having then not heard for a number of weeks, I took back to Facebook and sent a message, of which I was told that it would be chased up. It's now been several months since I enquired, and I am not further forward than when I started my enquiry. And yes, I live in Lincoln and am a member of Lincoln Angling Club. I can't go back to Facebook as my accounts have been disabled by Facebook, I guess I must have offended one of those lefties, so I can now only deal with Lincs Angling by email.

Afternoon Dave, thanks for the reply. It sounds very similar to my experience,I don't think it matters how you correspond with them, the result is the same ,no response. I too am a member, but if I wasn't I would not be joining, cheers,
Rob.

I have today, had an email from Lincs Angling to say that I am on the wait list for night fishing at North Clifton, but at present, all the positions are filled and no new additions can be made until the renewal process has been completed. I got an apology for my complaint where I said I feel that I am being ignored, further mentioning that my place on the wait list is secure and that I will be contacted as soon as a spot becomes available.

I am surprised that Collingham hasn't restarted night fishing. Surely they've seen a big loss in revenue. I, like many, travelled many hours to night fish this venue and I am sure that banning night-fishing for non-members, must affect the revenue. I am now within 20 minutes of the Trent and it seems near on impossible to be able to night fish it other than for Foxcovert, Salmon Farm, A1 pits and Bob's.....venues that are being cained and over-fished. Never used to have wait lists for the Thames, Kennet and Loddon when I had them on my doorstep.

Surprise, surprise Dave,as if by magic I too am now on the waiting list , could it be the power of BFW ??.

It's worth bearing in mind the issues the club has had in the last 12 months. They've had money stolen by a previous committee member (and not a small amount) and issues over fisheries and how they were managed, and some unsavoury behaviour towards committee members.

It appears to me they are your typical angling club that is run by volunteers, for the benefit of the members. They have access to some good waters and are probably inundated with requests from people all the time.

Yes they take our money and I appreciate we expect a certain level of service for that. But you'll know if you've ever been involves in helping to run a club or syndicate that it is ever far from easy to get things done to the satisfaction of everyone.

It's also worth remembering that once you've posted something on the Internet its there forever...not everyone sees that as a good thing and I'm sure people get blackballed for all manner of things they've said.

Maybe we all need to have a certain level of patience when approaching clubs and syndicates. It's far easier to become a member of a river group than a carp version with big fish available to be caught in its waters.

I'm sure we all remember when you had to write introductory letters to join most clubs as well...it requires a certain degree of patience and acceptance.

Good luck with your applications, both Trent stretches of the club are well worth fishing. And quiet too which is a bonus.

Paul, would not disagree with any of your comments, however,if a committee member has the time to reply, all I would ask is they simply give you the information you require, which would negate the need for further e-mails,cheers.

I can't disagree with you Rob. I would say, stick with it and don't let it put you off.
They have an agm coming up shortly. I don't know if they're accepting AOBs or questions to the committee but it might be worth raising communication with members as a topic there or by post? I'm sure they'd want to help as word of mouth is the best recruiting tool for any club these days.
