lighter float rod

Be interesting to know what your lightest Ci4 weighs actually as I reckon it would be very close to the baby torny

Stradic 4000 GTM - 356g
Stradic 3000 GTM - 350g (Despite a smaller rotor and spool only 6g lighter than the 4000)
Stradic Ci4+ 4000 RA - 334g
Stradic Ci4+ 2500 RA - 270g
Super GT 2500 RD - 310g (Chucked in as the essential difference to the above is XT-7 body/rotor).
Twinpower Ci4 4000 RA - 312g
Twinpower Ci4 3000 RA - 285g
Stradic Ci4+ 2500 FB - 198g (small front drag reel with no anti-reverse switch). No line on the spool.
Daiwa EM-MS 2506H - 228g (Just to add a Daiwa reel made from their light Zaion material.

That’s loaded with 6lb mono mind. Not book stats.

Just to be clear, none of the weights I gave are taken from a catalogue. I don't claim my scales as being calibrated, but they are good enough to show the differentials between models. I didn't anticipate the Tourney being lighter than the front drag Stradic Ci4+ 2500 FB or the Daiwa EM-MS 2506H. I'm not surprised that it's lighter than the rear drag Stradic Ci4+ 2500 RA and all the other rear drag models.

Given that your Stradic X 3000 GTM is showing as 337g and my Stradic 3000 GTM as 350g, I suspect a discrepancy between scales somewhere. I wouldn't expect there to be as much as 13g difference between them. I've long suspected that my scales weigh somewhere near 10g too heavy.

The little front drag stradic at 198g is very impressive especially if your scales over read.
It might not be the case mind. My 3000gtm is the ultra rare 7:1 model. Maybe (unlikely) but maybe they were a few grams lighter??

I don't expect the Stradic X and standard Stradic to be identical weights, but I'd be a little surprised if the difference would amount to 13g.

No idea Chris
I didn’t think there was ever much between the x and non x in standard 6.2:1 ratio apart from a colour scheme.
but there’s gotta be something different one way or tother with the 7:1 as there is more and finer teeth on both the gear and worm drives.

Actually, the new shimano Sahara fj may also be a good choice, it finally has the back winding switch.

I used to use the Sahara fi 4000 for chub fishing, it is a lovely little reel, light weight, only 315g at 4000 size, smooth, the line lay is also good. The only drawback is no back winding switch, but I am glad to see shimano brings it back on fj.

My scales aren’t calibrated either. They are just the scales I use to check feeders are to spec before I send em out.

purchased an Acolyte 17’ today, was good to find one in store so I could have a waggle and put a bend in it, surprising power as Chris mentioned. So now … what reel ? Was thinking a Stradic 3000 but fancy a change, was looking at browning and Preston Inn match reels, anyone got them or feedback ? Thanks gents
If you can find them, a shimano stradic 1500 size would be nice. I've got those reels and very light and great as a light rod setup
