Lead wire for rolling meat ?

Hi men

I use this for many different rig applications , was going to be picked up by a major tackle company at one time , as once you put it on your hook length for popups etc it don't move , unaffected by weed , blows putty out the water . I used it as a sort of shot on the hook before it became fashionable , and for rolling meat on the Kennet . Cheap as chips in 12mm width , last a lifetime .

Cheers Rich - I think it's the picture that makes it clear in my mind. Will give it a go at the weekend. The mole is sooooo low and clear i barely need any weight at all.

IMO there’s a much better way to do this.

I started doing it like this probably 7 or 8 years ago. I’ve never seen another angler actually try it but imo it is the best way to present a weighted bait.

Tie a hook with a knotless knot and leave a hair length of around 10-15mm. No loop needed.
Nip a split shot of your desired weight on to the hair. Different swims, different flow rates, change the shot for different weights to get desired presentation.
Pull hook into the meat

Perfectly adjustable and balanced weighted bait. No lead or wire on the hook reducing the gape and the shot helps keep the bait on for dozens of casts. View attachment 36423

Another vote here for the split shot on the tail of line from a knotless knot, it works well and bait stays on forever. Occasionally I also gently nip on another shot a few inches above the hook if needed.
