Landing net pole.

Guy's

Looking for a nice two piece landing net pole. I have endless nets to go on it. Should be light, 6' in length, so 3'x2 please. And not crazy money. A collapsable one would be ok, but most look a bit smew, as if made for match fishing. I'm after a Barbel or Carp one.

I have a Gardner one but its very heavy, very. Any ideas I look at, so thanks.

Thanks.

Gardner twist lock. Strong and light. The twist lock does not cease up like my Drennan one

I have all three of the suggested usual suspects.

The Lone Angler is nigh on indestructible but weighs in at a whopping 1lb 12oz.

The Gardner is a little thinner, feels marginally less solid and weighs in at 1lb 2oz. However, it somehow feels heavier due to the dirty great metal locking collar that makes it nose heavy.

The Drennan is much thinner than either of the aforementioned. It feels solid enough but the locking mechanism requires care in use and occasional maintenance. It's by far the lightest at 13.5oz (for the original 1.5-3m). If the newer Compact version (1-2m) is long enough for your needs, it weighs in at 10oz.

go for the drennan super specialist twist lock landing net pole 3mI've use for 10 years plus never let me down

Jrc specialist are decent mate 2 piece and net included.

That looks nice, Bob. Highly tempted myself! :)

I also have the Gardner and the Drennan - preferring the latter. The Gardner's locking collar doesn't seem to get a good enough grip on the pole, and it's heavier (as mentioned by Chris).

I've also got the drennan. Great piece of kit imo, but I reckon there's a place in my armory for that JRC. It was Roberts' previous post that raised my curiosity.

I've got both Drennan SS twistlocks and they are great! I do want something a bit longer for certain swims thought, so I'm thinking of getting the Acolyte 4m. The only thing is, they are a take apart design and I'm not sure how much I would trust it... Has anyone on here used a take apart landing net handle at all?

Hi Sam, ive been using one for the past 10 years or so, its a Shakespear Xtream 325, can be used as a 2 or 3 piece pole, approx 7ft and 10ft. Because there's no locking mechanisms, its very very light. Touch wood, its never let me down.

Thanks Derek, that's reassuring!

I looked at the drennan swist lock" did"nt really like the swist as very stiff and looked like a week point!

went for a Korum power stick 2 piece" very good so far

Guy.

Managed to get the JRC one in a sale £25 new, amazing deal. The pole is two piece and strong, just what I wanted to match my stalking gear. Thanks to all for the suggestions and help.

Richard.
