Lake District Pike

Have been travelling around lately fishing and getting pretty poor results. Think I should have been fishing closer to home! You take the lakes for granted when you live here.
Just had a great day for pike on Grassmere topped by this 25 pound 4 oz beauty.
Has anyone else been having any joy on the lakes?

Jack that's a superb fish, it looks like it's been eating well.

I've blanked a couple of times on Esthwaite but will be back in the Lakes 'ere long. I absolutely love the place.

Looks like a bank caught fish, maybe i should try a session on the beautiful Grasmere next time?

I've been put off fishing Rydal water - i have never seen so many bl**dy comorants in one place

Jack, that is a great looking croc, I have had three weekends on my mate's boat on Windermere so far and have landed a few small pike but nothing big, they are there though and I will have one........ You are very lucky, it is a 10 hour round trip for me

Cheers Guys,
Graham i know what you mean on Rydal, it is a gorgeous place though and it's been producing a few good ens lately. The fish I'm holding in the picture had a nasty wound that looked like a cormorant had had a go.
Esthwaite is a very hard water to crack I think, he also charges a fortune to fish it, bank fishing's up to £27 this year!! I've been on there quite a few times in the past on boats and the bank but just had small fish, there's monsters in there tho which keeps you going back! You probably know but it's an excellent roach water as well.

Steve,

Good to know you enjoy it up here, was at Bewdley and Bridgenorth a few weeks back and was well impressed, would love to live that close to quality rivers, not bad night life too!
I'm not a big fan of Coniston, if you've got a boat Windemeres the place to be, it's just annoying having all the boat traffic. It's supposed to be 10 mph speed limit on there but people still manage to water ski right past your lines??

I have to say, I was more than a little impressed with Coniston.

Maybe it was the fact that it was my first time, and we found Pike very quickly, including a couple of good fish, but sadly all I caught were a few jacks and low doubles.

The scenery was stunning tho....

I've posted these before, but I'll take any opportunity to remind myself of what it was like.....
