Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

I just saw this during lunch break. The first thought that came to me was that it seems convenient, but the bait would spread all over the place when playing a fish. But I still want to give credit to the Korum. At least they are trying to do something for the roving anglers.

I do think Korum tend to invent products for a need that does not exist. Like yourself, my first thoughts are that should you lean forward while wearing one of these for instance when returning a fish then the bait is going to tip out or your bait box is going to fill with water. Likewise if it rains while you are fishing.

I do a fair bit of wading and use an ESP bait pouch which does everything I need. Many similar models are available and have pockets for bits and pieces plus an elastic loop for retaining a catapult and velcro closure to prevent water getting in during rain. The other thing I do with mine when wading deep is to shorten the belt and put it around my neck to keep it clear of the water.

The Korum one has the option of using as a bait waiter but I feel the old Drennan bait waiter is a better bet as you can fit 3 x 3 pint bait boxes and have a spare space for odds and ends.

I also imagine anglers would normally have needles and disgorgers already so why buy more?

That does look gimmicky, it sticks out too far and I know it would be an hinderance for me.
For years now i've been using a ESP pouch same as John has mention he uses.....they are very good.
A couple of months back I got a drennan specialist waterproof version which has a zip up lid. The lid folds forward when open and has a small zipped pocket on the underside of the lid which is faceing upwards when the lid is open. You could put odd bits in the pocket, scissors, disgorgers, hooks etc if you wanted to. It also has the holders for a catty.
The actual bait holder is just one open section, so nowhere to seperate different baits. I have just cut a yogurt pot/bucket down to fit into the drennan bait holder so I can have sweetcorn in the pouch but kept seperate from my maggots.
I haven't used this drennan bait pouch yet but know it will be fine.
Unlike the esp pouch the drennan one is waterproof so if the bottom does get submerged when wading the magg's will stay dry......I hope.

Snap! I have one of those Drennan pouches too. I like that it holds its shape unlike the ESP one, and also that it is trivially easy to clean being made of EVA on the inside. Nice idea about the yoghurt pot... I was wondering what I would use to do the same thing to keep casters and hemp separate, and that sounds perfect 👍

It just looks bloody stupid. It looks awkward, uncomfortable and well unnecessary

I also have an esp pouch as well as a welded waterproof fox one for deeper wades and they are just the ticket purpose made to do the job
this wearable tray is just ridiculous imo.
All Korum need to do is manufacture one them selves. Like said above if they stuck two bits of Velcro in there and a movable divider it would be a winner. I also have the same trouble separating hemp and meat or hemp and corn/maggots etc

I just put the smaller capacity into a small Tupperware box

The cadence bait aprons don’t look too bad for fishing from the bank, but no good for wading above knee deep or so.

To me the problem of the cadence one is the inner isn’t waterproof, great for boilies, pellet, but for maggots, corn, emmmm, I would use one build with EVA

Way too cumbersome IMO, bait pouch with separate pots does the job …or even a good old fashioned bait apron

I would hate to watch all my bait and tackle boxes etc fall off and float away down river - totally under thought product , just like the trotting stand that fits to a tri pod , a bit of flow would wash that away too. It’s good a company thinks about specialist anglers , but give us gear that’s worth it not plastic crap. I use original Double T bait pouches , and managed to get more made by Cotswold Aquarius last year , they weren’t cheap and a minimum order quantity of 15 was a bit of putting , but a group of us chipped in and we ordered them. I now have enough to see me out

Cotswold Aquarius confirmed they still have all the templates and samples for all the original Double T stuff which was some of the best barbel angler gear out. In fact I think if it was still available it would sell well , but again the minimum order quantities and initial prices are prohibitive to bringing them out

I can’t speak for the Korum version of the tripod tray as it was hideously expensive for what it is but this concept i actually really like and adopted my own version which works incredibly well.
It’s very stable and I’ve tried it in the fast flowing parts of the middle Trent and found it to be extremely solid and I’d absolutely trust it to stay put in any situation where I’m able to support myself wading.

Mine is a little different to the Korum in the respect that I made it smaller so it packs in my bag and all the legs adjustable on the angle. So I can splay them right out into a huge footprint if needed to increase stability. As of yet I’ve not needed to go much more than 30°
Mine also accommodates the handling of a full length net. Something that 15ft rod users like myself find handy.
You can if you want also securely fit your rod to it and it’s going no where because of the 2 stage grips I used on it rods or poles clip to it properly.
I’ll always wear a belt at the very least while wading but I do like to have as little on me as absolutely possible to be comfortable and this provides that for me.

No threads on it either. It’s All quick connections and comes apart really easily and packs down well enough to carry.

Looks a lot better thought out one than the Korum one Richard . , I still can’t see why they insist on taking tackle boxes into mid river on theirs ! I like the use of Robert’s Butt grip rests !

I can’t see why you would take a tackle box out there either. Couple of hook lengths and a discorger is about the limit for my in water surgery. Anything more serious and it’s a trip back to shore.

For me, it's the Lone Angler bait pouches. I believe that these were also made by Cotswold Aquarius. I have two distinct versions. Naturally, I prefer the version that I only have one spare. The original I've been battering for around ten years. The plasticised backing of the outer pouch turned brittle and peeled off a long time ago. The embroidered logo has almost worn off. The removable inner bag disintegrated a few years back. I got replacements made out of Ventile fabric, which are miles better than the original. They wash well too.

Because they are selling it? Although it is completely unnecessary and useless, the last thing I want to do is to tie any thing in the middle of the river. Also the baiting needles, you don’t need to hair rig meat/corn when trotting

These were the ones I had made Chris. I did mention it to Paul Fisk last year about resurrecting some of the Lone Angler products without the LA logo as CA are happy to make the bespoke orders , it needs a small tackle dealer to take on as CA won’t add to their current products 3 of us split the costs for the bulk order , and CA made them in about 2 weeks for us
