Korum fast mat

Chris I sold mine in favor of the foldamat. It’s more suitable for those longer fish and folds away just as light and compact.
the advantage of the fast mat was it was up in 2 seconds where as the foldamat takes around 10 seconds other than this I prefer the foldamat for barbel.

If I caught a barbel that was too long for my fast mat I'd whip out my knife in 2 seconds flat and slash one end (of the mat) :D, small price to pay.

I’ve caught plenty over 30 inches long (fast mat length)
A good 13lb fish is generally longer than a fast mat. Yes you can get them in and it’s fine but a little space at the business end is always nice. Dimensionally the foldamat is better for barbel I think. Fast mat is a great tool I can’t deny it but the length could of done with being 3 or 4 inch longer.

The NGT cradle is slightly bigger(108cm compared to 80cm) than the fastmat and the same sort of price. It will take a 20 no problem.
 😁 😁

I have the Angling Direct Advanta XL Cradle which I am very pleased with, maximum size open is 120cm, the downside is it does weigh 2.2kgs compared to some of the others positively heavy, but is very well made, and will handle any sized Barbel easily.

It's pretty good, Rich. Narrow and deep would be a good way to describe it, and it was different height pegging points on the side. Obviously, limited to slightly sloping banks only. It's weight and the fact it fits in the sling are also useful characteristics.

I think the Pentalite is a very good brolly, better imo than the Fox Specialist, which is also good. Better coverage on the sides, and it offers more shelter in crappy conditions, because you can tuck right into the back .

When the weather improves I will put both of them up on the lawn and do a side-by-side review comparing the dimensions.

They look the part but I’ve always been a spike in the floor type of guy. I think if I was to fully peg out a little shelter on a short session I’d be reluctant to pull it all down after an hour to move where as a standard brolley keeps the rain off my head and is back in the quiver in a matter of seconds.
I do have an abode brolly shelter with an over rap but it comes out very rarely for overnight sessions.
Korum brolleys are great. I’ve got the lightweight graphite one and it’s brilliant to chuck about between swims. if I think I’m going to be heading out in a serious wind. I stick on a couple of poles.
