Just Another Day? Not likely!

hobbies really are very small. I was watching one chase house martins in scotland last week and initially thought it was a sparrowhawk.
Shame you didn't have your tape measure with you mate :D.

Great Story Damian,

When you mentioned what you initially thought was the crow attacking the heron it is a
sight I saw on the Trent last season.
A pair of crows attacking a heron, diving at the back of it's neck and having a real go. The heron was to cumbersome to retaliate as with it's long beak it couldn't reach where it was being attacked. Fascinating stuff.
On the subject of Kites, if anyone goes to Adams Park (or is it the Causeway Stadium again) every matchday 3 or 4 red kites take to the air over the car park. Must be the smell of the pies, burgers and hot dogs which bring them out.

"Rivers and the inhabitants of the watery element are made for wise men to contemplate, and for fools to pass by without consideration." An Izaak Walton quote sums it up perfectly. A brilliant recollection. Thanks for sharing.

Very enjoyable read, for a moment I thought I was there too but I was really looking forward to tucking into that Dorset apple cake, you missed it out!:)

Ooh, that dorset apple cake, and a blinkin' big chunk of it too - a veritable doorstop of a piece!
Huge great pieces of apple, a touch of cinnamon, a wonderfully crunchy caramelised demerara sugar top and just so deliciously moist to boot. To speak of eating it just wouldn't be right.
A Saturday staple for me that is Mick!
In fact, it's not only by way of coincidence that I stop in the bakers on the way to the tackle shop before making my way down to the river. If it was at the other end of the high street, I'd be in there first getting my name on a piece.
The important things first.

Yum...........any photo's, of the cake I mean.
Went to Royalty with a mate last year first and only trip so far and had some mediocre sandwich, my friend being more experienced than me had fish & chips on the bank!!

Won't be making that mistake again. We blanked by the way.
