Item of tackle you wish you hadn't sold.

Barbel
It had a 1.75 Avon top 1.5 Avon top a quiver carrier and 4 tips.
Appreciate the offer chris I really do but I couldn’t give you what they are worth nowadays unfortunately and I’d never insult you offering you less.

I sold mine about 7 years ago way too cheap. Beautiful rods but £300 is the going rate for a minter and if I was going to throw that at a rod I’d probably put some extra towards a 12ft microlight 2000 if I could find one.
You occasionally end up just down the road from me. Save me from eBay hell and postal jeopardy, I'll do a deal. I didn't have £300 (or more) in mind. It's likely to keep gathering dust otherwise.

Yeah I was up your way yesterday in carthorpe stopping over with family
Some water on that river at the moment. I was hoping to flick a float out down the beck but it’s racing through now.
Ok that sounds more than fair. Let me know what you want for it and I’ll come get it next time I’m over.
I can even pay for it electronically whenever you want so that’s not an issue

Thanks Chris 👍🏻😎

There is a fox extreme specialist rod on eBay... I am wondering if anyone really going to buy it

About half a metre at Catterick Bridge right now. The reason I'm not out.

PM inbound.

Having an annoying tackle buying addiction there’s loads i regret selling, however i also do look at things and think why am i keeping them, they should be used. I could write a long list of what i wish i hadn’t sold, but then i could also write a long list of things I don’t understand why i brought.
A pair of the original Drennan Power Barbel twin tips.
Still got my pair...might be using them soon looking at the Severn levels.

my biggest regret was a selling my set of Nash extreme pursuit carp rods they were the best carp rods I’ve ever used and now like gold dust to find. absolutely gutted I sold them not sure how many of you guys are into a bit of carp fishing but these rods were the absolute business

I once owned four Fox Barbel Plus 1.75lb TC rods! They fell into misuse when I got my FS Barbel Seekers and were, one by one, sold off. Wish I’d kept a pair (perhaps three) which I would now be using for my feeder fishing for Tench. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I brought two of these a couple of years ago on ebay, then sold them for around the £300 each. Didn't like the weight of the rods, quite heavy.

Not sold but given away. My old Efgeeco green canvas bucket/groundbait bag. It was my first fishing bag and smelt of fishing ( in a nice way ). Would love to find one in decent nick but most that come up now ( understandably due to its age ) are more battered than my old warrior was.

I've sold loads of stuff in the last few years and only regret one. An early (in the modern era) shimano baitrunner 4000 DL (I think), front drag, all metal, dark green, felt more like an XTEA in quality and I think it was about that price as well. I sold it to a mate and I asked him about it when we were last barbel fishing, he said he preferred his Daiwa ninja and doesn't use it anymore. So I could probably buy it back off him, I've got a 4000 OC now and am not sure if I'm just being nostalgic about the quality or if it really was that nice.

You mean the 4000 XTFA. I had 3 on my tench rods for a couple of seasons. Very well built reels, but let down imo, by the naff shiny silver double handle (a found singles for mine) and a very lightweight bail arm which always looked like it would bend if knocked around in the rod quiver (they never did). I upgraded to the 4000 x-aero as the slightly wider diameter spool is better for casting and I'm glad I did. The XTFA's also had a better line clip than the OC's and D's.

I'd love to get my hands on a pair of the 2500 XTFA's. They are rare as hens teeth it seems. Guess nobody wants to part with them.

Thats the one Joe. Agreed on the handle, it was a bit line catcher. I always meaning to change it but never got round to it.

That aero looks nice to be fair, have you used an OC to compare it against?

I have a pair and I'm not that keen. They do look rather nice on the Fox Duo Lite Avons/Specialists that they were bought for though.

If I actually did much but float fish these days, I think I'd have probably replaced them with X-Aeros, especially if they did them in Ci4+.

I absolutely hated the X aero
Couldn’t of flogged mine quick enough.

Im so glad they went back to deeper spool skirts on the XR

The x aero was fine for long chucks to a clip or feathered down hard but it was boardering on useless for an under arm cast at short range because of that stupidly shallow spool skirt and line guard that actually picks up your line and takes it under the spool. Terrible design!

Thank goodness I didn’t end up dealing with a barbel on it but Ive hand lined a couple of chub with them before enough was enough.

Thank you. All my fishing is under arm or at most a side lob so will give it a wide berth.

Definitely…..!
But don’t confuse it with the newer XR.

The XR is a far superior reel in every way from what I can see.
Lighter body, deeper spool skirts, no daft line guards and no poxy double handle

Not "tackle" but I regret selling a 1st edition copy of Mr Crabtree Goes Fishing by Bernard Venables bought for me when I was a nipper by my fishing mad uncle. The minute I sold it to a book shop in St Albans I regretted it and went back a week later but it had been sold on. I bought another one but its not the same. This all happened about 40 years ago and I'm still not over it!!!
