Is anyone selling a B/W Avon Hexagraph?

Hi Paul, not exactly what you’re after but I’ve got a Ray Walton #2 Hexagraph rated 1.25 that I was going to move on in the new year.

Drop me a DM if you’re interested.

Cheers

As near as dammit, I'd say, Darren. I have a Ray Walton No 2, and have just bought a 1.25tc Avon, the latter of which is still at my mother's in Bournemouth (the seller kindly delivered it) and I've yet to get my hands on it. The only discernible difference I can see is the lack of regularly spaced whipping on the avon. I imagine they're much the same otherwise. Both bought secondhand. I've had the Ray Walton for a decade, and love it.

the Walton (No1 1lb Tc) has a significantly shorter cork handle, 570mm vs 710 on the Avon (No3 1.5lb Tc) Also the Avon is closed whipped as opposed to the open whipped Walton

Thanks for that, Paul. My Walton, however, is closed whipped. Strange one. I wonder if the difference is down to the test curve, i.e. No 2 as opposed to No 1? And yet, the 1.25tc Avon I've recently purchased is open whipped. Essentially the exact opposite of your rods.

No idea how to explain that one. 🙃

Darren - is your Walton closed whipped? If it is, and if Paul's not interested......then I would be in the New Year. :D

Close whipped version is the 'deluxe' version. Ray Walton version has different length of handle ( only an inch or two), not sure if its longer or shorter than Avon version .
I have Ray Walton no 2, and no 3 standard version rods.
No I didn't buy new!
