Does look like Lamprey, the things get huge. Seen lots in the Teme over the years and the nests they make on the river bed, some of the stones they move are huge! Dave mason has some stunning footage of them

Think the ones i've seen, and the ones seen by Ade - 1m long and thicker than his wrist are Sea Lampreys. The ones i have seen have a mottled green/yellow colouration which fits the Sea Lamprey description. Brook Lampreys are too small to cause that size of wound. I would guestimate the biggest i've seen to be around the 4lb mark based on a similar length to weight ratio to an eel.
