in the market for a new shelter ?

You are right guys only time will tell but it did see some awful weather last week and I was really impressed and all the gear stayed dry
I will only use when I have to as I can cope with drizzle
I used it simply as a shelter Gerry. I had a bivvy and bedchair set up away from the bank
Too old to be that hardcore😀

I have normal and 60" brolleys but just tend not to take them cos of the weight so this is an experiment but so far so good

But bivvy and bedchair weigh a tad more :)

Oh I see :) funny enough Im just negotiating buying a secondhand FOX SPECIALIST BROLLY to do same sort of thing

I decided on a hot-melt seam tape to patch up my old Badger brolly. Ordered 20m roll from eBay, came from China. Arrived 5 weeks earlier than estimated BUT the whole reel.had welded into a solid lump, presumably due to hot conditions en route.
They game me a full refund.

Sellers on Amazon appear to be all from same factory!!

Am going to try silicon and white spirit mix, hoping it doesn't get messy.

Can't remember the name of it, but someone recently recommended some tape on here, that apparently sticks like sh?t to a blanket.

That was Tenacious Tape Derek. It was not a reel of tape, it was a rectangle and would not be cost effective.
Silicone is a one off try, impossible to remove and nothing else will ever stick to it.
Never heard of mixing it with white spirit.
CT1 is a similar product but far more adhesive and is is a great sealer. Even sticks underwater.
There's a matching solvent that works very well with it, on silicone too, called multisolve.
I'll put up a couple of links later.

I had tried some Gorilla Tape but that didn't stick, so pulled that off.

Went for it this morning. Pulled off the old (barely stuck) seam tapes

Then mixed some silicone and white spirit 50/50. Painted on all seams on the inside, as neatly as one can with all the ribs moved aside as best I could. Should dry as it's reasonably hot

It was certainly easier and quicker than if I'd tried to use a hot iron on hot-melt tape, in fact I doubt that would have been possible.

Fingers crossed

I see Korum are about to reIease a new brolly shelter which will be of interest to many on here.

To me it looks like a much improved version of the Superlite shelter - e.g. much more coverage. If it packs down to a slimmer diameter than the Fox Specialist Brolly (which annoyingly doesn't fit into my Fox Specialist quiver...) then it looks potentially like a decent bit of kit.

It certainly looks like it offers better protection than the super lite shelter. Similar weight too. At £90 I’d expect it to be decent
50 inch so a nice size to squeeze into tighter swims.

Out in January apparently. Looks the part and plenty high enough at the front which I always find a problem

Step dad just got a penalite shelter
Very good bit of kit. Can Get right to the back of it because of the spoke design and there’s loads of coverage. He said it’s proper rigid and built to take a good gust.

I got the pentalite shelter brolly a couple of month ago and used it in the winds and rain at the end of the season. It was absolutely spot on and a massive upgrade from the super lite.
