If you....

That's a tough one Neil and in all honesty I'd probably give up fishing cos I would miss my other rods too much.
Until I've replaced all my favourites is when I would restart.
I've had a rethink...
If only one rod could be grabbed it would have to be the Daiwa spectron m2 xp float.
Phenomenal multi species rod that's a joy to catch 3oz gudgeon to 20lb carp.

Cracking float rods I’ve a couple of spectrons now ranging 13,14,15 foot and it’s all I really reach for nowadays.
I only go for the xp if I think something special might be on the cards.

The M2 Spectrons are lovely float rods, I’ve owned the 12’ 2 piece waggler and the 13’ waggler as well as the XP I sold you. I almost got the spliced tip as well 😊

The XP would be a great all-rounder if I was still float fishing for Barbel but since I can’t anymore I’d rescue my acolyte plus which covers all my float fishing needs and a pair of 12’ Torrixs for Barbel, big Bream and Tenching. They’d do for the big Roach I occasionally fish for and never catch

One rod would be a 12’ 1.75 tc Torrix

John Wilson Avon does everything
Shimano stradic specialist.
It’s probably my least valuable rod but the most useful to generic fishing situations under small compromise.

Can I trott with it … yes
Can I feeder fish with it ….. yes
Could it possibly put a small dead bait out … yes
Could it land a 15lb barbel….. yes
Could it drop 5 oz out in margins…. Yes
Could it land small species without bumping them…. Yes.
Surprise, you didn’t pick the torrix. It can do all things you mentioned except the trotting.

Same here Dave, old rods have soul and stories to tell, that's why I find them hard to part with. My first Barbel caught was on a 10ft non -descript ledger rod, and I can't find it, and the old Wilson Avons the kids had so much fun with catching all sorts. My first Wye Barbel on the Hyperloop.

The versatility of the shimano being twin top, (quiver and Avon) longer rod and slightly softer means it would be better at more stuff if that makes sense.
It would only be the heavier pay loads where the Torrix would really beat it. Shimano would definitely be a better compromise rod to do a bit of everything well enough to get by.

Yeah, that’s why I picked my powermesh Avon over other rods. It’s a good compromise rod as well.

Probably my John Wilson barbel quiver. Not a particularly expensive rod or even a great rod but it’s landed my pb barbel, carp, roach, bream and eel so I got a soft spot for it even though I don’t use it anymore.

One of my original B.James MkIV carp rods, no matter what I caught on it I would have a big smile on my face and that's why I do it.
