If you fall in the water

If you ever get chance read Chris Newtons excellent biography of Falkus '' A life on the edge'' . He was a very complex man and led an actioned packed life . People who encountered him never forgot him , he could be charming and entertaining as well as bombastic and opinionated .An innovator in his fishing and very skilled writer he certainly left his mark on the angling world

All well and good, but he jumped and was expecting to go in, also only slightly above shallow water with a nice low and stable dry bank.... add the element of surprise, steep muddy banks and it could well be a different matter.
