If anyone looking for a pair Torrix

If anyone looking for a pair off Harrison 12ft Torrix 2lbs specialist rods go to

Ebay item number: 151305102518

Why does anyone on a Barbel forum want to spend Torrix money on a pair of flood water rods? They may do for river pike rods though.

Best barbell rods you can buy.
Used only once.
Am I missing something.
I will continue to put money aside each week for Mr Lumb's benevolent society.

I am probably wrong and the guy is flogging them cos his circumstances have changed but why does anyone buy a pair of expensive hand built rods that he thinks are the "best barbell rods ever" then flog them on fencebay? perhaps I am overly suspicious but it does not feel right to me.
I am also fishing's answer to Victor, a 2lb Torrix does not make the best barbell rod in the world, it may well make the best barbell rod for somewhere like the lower Trent but defiantly not in my little river.

I'm in some what of an agreement there Kevin. They are tidal rods really or flood rods. Though I feel flood rods are there to catch the angler myself. I've fished swollen rivers before and always stick to sheltered margins. Quite why anyone would put 8oz plus in the flow is beyond me. Plus I can't cast my okuma Sheffields that far.
Just my outlook on it like.

I think most people would agree that there is no single perfect barbel rod because there is such a diverse range of fishing situations we might encounter- even in the same swim on the same river. But this is just a bit of sales language isn't it, rather than a genuine claim?

I have a pair of Torrixs built a couple of years ago best rod i have ever owned. I saw this pair on ebay and thought someone may be interested in them. I DO NOT OWN THEM.

Maybe he quickly realised that he should have bought a pair of Chimera 3's after all...
Just because the technology is newer, is doesn't mean it's any better.

I love the sales patter:

'..this really is a serious specimen anglers rod'

Does that mean I'm not serious when fishing for specimen barbel, seeing as I don't own these rods?
Better get a bid in quick! I'll prove I'm serious!

Perhaps the greatest example of this is Gillette razors, the use of which is quite literally "the best a man can get". That is setting the bar fairly low in my view. If a decent shave was also combined with a drive to the South of France in a Ferrari 458 accompanied by Kelly Brook then yes, it's all starting to fall into place. If we then spent the journey discussing barbel rigs, bait and opening day tactics, well yes I can start to see it. But on its own, no, it's not the best a man can get.

I have these in 1.75 and 2Lbs... Fantastic rods full stop - the best I have ever had!!

I like my 1.75lb Torrix and for me it is as close as I could get to an 'all round' barbel rod. It was built by a well known and very reputable rod builder who told me if I ever wanted I could get the 2lb tip as the butt is the same on both rods. Perhaps you could try them for size? Might be good info for a prospective buyer.

My main concern is does the vendor!

You never know with eBay but having myself brought many rods myself including several customs (torrix, 2 rod dymag mobile system etc) and then sold them on unused or used once at hideous losses i wouldn't doubt him even if he is a bit ott in his description.

I may have missed something on this thread also, but has someone not just pointed out that there are a couple of rods for sale on e-bay that might interest somebody?

Stephen
