Life jackets
I'm not sure how they assign a bouyancy figure to a life jacket, but 1kg has the force, due to gravity, of 10 Newtons (10N). Rather than buy a jacket with built in buoyancy, why not consider one of the horseshoe designs, Sospenders are not bulky, can be worn with any clothing, so you are not stuck with a particular jacket. Crewsaver stuff is top notch, more bulky and expensive and really aimed at sailing. I think that something like the Sospenders would do the trick ( a lot of reservour fishermen use them) - there's a clip on uTube showing Sospenders inflating. Probably opt for manual pull cord inflation rather than auto. Just some thoughts.
