Well i've read both those links Ray and I'm buggered if I can see where "Southern Fisheries/Royalty Fishery hierarchy ‘objected’ to the ‘ceasing/stopping ‘ of weed cutting upstream on the Hampshire Avon".
There is a quote from the ex-fishery manager Dave Burgess stating his views on the management of weed growth.
David Burgess, said: “River weed is like any vegetation; left to fend for itself, it will reduce in quality and strength. If we look at woodlands, those that are prospering are those that are managed.
“I shall be asking where their scientific evidence comes from that proves the River Avon to be different to our local chalk streams.”
Nothing in that from Southern Fisheries at all and no objections stated anywhere.
