When I was younger I would dispense with the seat but now in my mid 60s it is essential I find. On my end of season trip to the Severn I put everything I need (end tackle wise) in a small sandwich box but still ended up with a rucksack, rod holdall, bucket in each hand plus the seat! (Maggots in one bucket, pellets, boilies in the other). It was well balanced though!
