How much 'good' line

Going to be putting some new line on my reels for the upcoming season and rather than filling them entirely with the good new line, I'll be using some old stuff for backing. Given that 90% of my fishing is on the Trent and I'm not casting to the moon, how much good line would you have on the spool, I was thinking 150m would be enough?

That’s plenty.

when I first started carp fishing with expensive fluorocarbon line I put 120 metres on top of my backing. I never cast further than 70m - so I thought having 50m spare was plenty. And it was.

I have access to a 6 acre field and have a map of varying distances for exactly this purpose. I even use it for loading fly line backing - 280 metres at a time.

100m is plenty for any uk river.
