How did everyone’s day one go ?

I turned up and managed to grab my favourite peg, happy days, I thought, until I saw the bloke in his garden on the opposite side of the river setting up to fish too. Thankfully he was just float fishing under his feet so didn’t really get in my way.

Also, the drink I took with me exploded in my bag and soaked everything and I forgot my lighter (I like a cigar by the river side).

One decent sized chub and that was about it, I only fished a few hours after work but it was very low and clear on the W.Avon. To be honest I’ll probably give it a miss now until some rain comes.

It was too hot by the time I got myself up, so decided to go this evening to the Warks Avon. River was low and clear but seen it worse.
I managed to winkle out a lovely conditioned towards dusk, 8 lb ish, it headed straight for the rushes and I thought that's some chub, but it morphed into Mr B.
Great to be out on the bank and did some serious putting the world to rights with some drop ins 😊

I managed a decent barbel of 7lb 10oz last knockings, had a couple of chub and lost another barbel. The river (Yorkshire derwent) was probably as low as I’ve seen it, but strangely had quite a bit of colour to it. I remember a couple of seasons ago looking off the bridge and being able to see the bottom and plenty of chub and barbel, tonight I couldn’t see the bottom or any fish under the bridge despite being a few inches lower.

The Severn despite some extra water looked a bit off Barry, not surprised you struggled. A couple of lads told me they gave up on Bridgenorth and re routed to Warks Avon.
The Wye also looked the same

To be honest Neil I went for the memories . My old man and me used to fish holt fleet alot together . It's now over grown and very few safe fishable areas on it which is a shame . The Avon up my end is painfully clear and low so I didn't fancy it .
I doubt I'll go out again now until as Gav says we have rain in the Rugby area .

The water temp on the Severn at Holt fleet was 18.8c if any one is into water temps .

It was great to me back on a river .. the sights , sounds and the smell of nettles and Himalayan balsam 🌞🎣

River was a horrid strained tea colour - never conducive with good fishing
Had a lot of chublets and dace on castor and maggot
Managed a modest but lethargic barbel
Switched to pellet and managed another 2 shoal barbel
Results were similar to most anglers on this stretch
This morning has started off a lot better with three fit 5 pounders to pellet

After a day on a building site removing a power line, and we're back there today, I retired to the shade of the house when I got home. With the forecast being the same all week, I doubt I'll get an evening out this week. not looking too good weather wise for next week either.

Nice to see some fish caught though.

I went out around 3pm, you couldn't even get into the car park at Barton on the W.Avon, young lad told me Fladbury was even worse and looked like a car park (I never fish Fladbury though)

I headed off to another stretch, 2 cars parked, river nice and quiet. Very low and clear so I had a walk about with the bait bucket first to see if I could find any fish. Didn't see anything but decided to have a cast since I was there. Stayed a couple hours but didn't spot anything in my swim (or any swims)

Bit of a test run really too as I went out with all new kit which was unfamiliar, bag, rod different tackle pouch so I was seeing what I had forgot, only a towel this time.

Despite no fish it was a nice 2 hours sat on the bank.
