How are people getting on out there?

Ouch, that's a bit annoying.

I discovered at the end of one very good tench season on an estate lake in Derbyshire, that the Fox Digital scales I was using were 2 oz under. I'd had a couple of 8.15's :)

If you said that barbel was 17lb I wouldn't disbelieve it.

It was no where near 17 but having run through the scales with known weights This morning to get them to the magic 15,4 i actually put 15,15 on it to read that. So in theory that’s probably what it would of made. Any way it’s too late now. I will only count the reading on the day. 15,4 will do for me and hopefully I’ll have a better set of scales when we meet again in March and she’s 2lb heavier 🤣

It's the length of her that strikes me

That's a disappointment Richard not knowing the proper weight. Avon's are normally quite reliable.I was that man with a big pike 3 years ago when my friend was overseeing the net and it 'escaped'. Did you get a length to fork of tail and girth measurement? How about upgrading to a pair of Reuben Heaton's.

I’m not Too disappointed Ady to be honest
My weights are usually kept quite personal unless it’s something special and I want to share. I tend to base my Biggest achievements on other things. I had one at 9,11 last February and that fish meant so much more than last nights fish to me. I put in 7 straight blanks and caught it when the river was almost over the top of its bank. It was getting to the point where I was feeling like I was flogging a dead horse. When that came along I was so made up.
I didn’t take any measurements. That scrap went on for 20 mins so she was back in the net as quickly as possible.
Took her a good half hour before she was kicking to get free.

I've done the same on the Trent last year Richard, first couple of doubles weighed at 12lb+ looked every bit 12lb fish, few fish later (i was catching a few! 😅) I had one that weighed low 8's, I was surprised as I thought it looked a double. Next fish was 11 3/4, and I thought it looked considerably bigger than the 12's 😂. At that point I hung my empty sling on the scales and they should have read zero, they were over 2 1/2lb the wrong way!! Barstewards! So that 11 3/4 was probably a good 14, and would have been a definite PB for me. It didn't really matter in the scheme of things, but it would have been nice to know :)

I’m off the mark on my first Hants Avon session! They all count, alright! 😂

Well as far as I’m concerned Alex you’ve had a 14. Dose not matter what the rest of them say 🤣

A quick thread revive........... My mate came back to see me last night.
same fish I caught in June at 15,4 (ish) I caught her again last night and this time was able to get a proper weight on my new Reubens.
she’s a pb again for me at 15,11.
dam it ....... so close to making that magic 16

Thats a great fish, not far off joining the 16 club at all. What river by the way?

This is the worst season I've ever known. I've fished 3 rivers, trent(middle and tidal) Don and the idle. I've done about 100 hours on the trent for an 11 pounder in the first week of the season. A couple of short evening sessions and a day into night session on the Don for a couple of chub and today I've been on the idle for the first time in a few years and blanked, not surprisingly as there was to much ripple on from the wind to spot owt, and there was rafts of weed continually coming down stream which made it virtually impossible to fish. I later found out they where cutting the weed further up stream. The angling gods are very angry with me this season it seems.
