Hooklength line?

Wayne Glossop

Senior Member
Hi all, I'm off to the TT tomorrow night now Iv got my new rods and reels and need to know what hooklength line/braid to get I'm spooled up with 15lb Korda subline can anyone advise me on a braid or line?
Thanks

What would you say is decent braid Iv had bad experience with ESP sink link. There's that many to choose from I'm unsure I could really do with a coated braid.
Regards

It's hard to choose from, the main place I fish is snaggy with rocks so need a braid or mono that's got a good resistance against abrasion Iv been advised on maxima chameleon the ultima looks good so will nip and have a look at that but could do with some more advise on braid? I don't usually use a combi rig if that helps?
Thanks

Has anyone used ESP strip teaze two tone on rocky venues if so I'd be kern to hear tour thoughts of it?
Regards

I have used ESP stripteaze on several rocky swims on the Severn & Wye with no problems and its dead easy to use. I would normally use Drennan Sinkbraid but on these type of rocky swims it gets cut up very badly.

Wayne, my main reason for using a combi rig is that it I like to use a long hooklenght in the conditions we have at the moment, the stiffer mono/fluro part of the rig keeps tangles at a minimum whilst the braid gives the rig suppleness and movement. You do get the same effect with coated braids but it would be very expensive making 3/4 feet hooklenghts out it.

With snags and rock on the TT, my main priority is dropping the lead/feeder, so to have direct contact with the fish, enabling you to get them away from harms way.

Iv just tied my first combi-rig with some mono and some braid. what a fantastic idea now the question comes of how long are people doing the braid and what type of line and braid should I be buying for a combi rig?
Regards

The next and absolute must is to ensure your rig is 100% safe should you break, I have seen far too many so called "SAFE RIGS". a fishes welfare should always be the top priority.

Hello I use ESP strip Tease (gravel), 12 and 15 pound on the Wye. It copes very well. Obviously a personal choice though. Also used Fox Cortex

Thanks Pete do you use that as a combi or a as a full hooklength mate?
Regards

google, Striptease........................................

Wayne, I use about 3-4" of braid for combi link tied to amnesia for the abrasiveness needed, but any good abrasive mono will be ok. Tie a few rigs with different lengths of braid for combi up and see how they react in the margins;)
thanks
