hookable pellets

is it me or does the term "hookable pellet" just mean you can get a hook in them and as soon as they touch the water they fall to bits and come off:eek:
was dabbling with new baits at the weekend and got 2 different brands of hookable pellets tried both and reeled in bait gone:rolleyes:
so tried them on the hook and just gently lowered the hook into the water and streight away the pellets flew off in the flow just a few inches under the surface
6mm pellets on a size 12 hook
will mash them up next trip out into the ground bait:(
they were the sonubait and demon baits ones
 
I know what you mean, I think they've been designed more for pole fishing still waters to be honest, where you can delicately place them in the water.

Always a problem with me, the only ones I know of are the Sonubaits 12mm that do stay on, but mostly hair rig those anyway. Like you I have built up a collection of Hookers :eek: and will have to condemn them to the feeder.
 
Bait Tech do a hookables barbel hybrid pellet(or something like that) they seem very hookable and very durable. Look and smell good too they come in mixed sizes in a tub.
 
I recently bought some Sonubaits Krill 8mm pellets which seem to have a skin on them. They are very oily and stay on the hook even with strong casting. I've found the Yorkshire Bait Co sift hookers stay on reasonably well when casting, thicker wire hooks that we would use for barbel.
 
The vast majority of soft hooker pellets are meant for pole fishing. Even then you need to be careful with some of them if you still want a baited hook by the time you've shipped out.

Sonubaits Babel and Carp hookable pellets are one of the few I've encountered that will withstand barbel gear and casting. I'd still rather hair rig a hard pellet though.
 
Sonubait Spicy Sausage and garlic will stay on and are a fantastic bait on their day, still prefer to hair rig though. I think hair rigged baits in general may allow greater hooking potential but accept it is not everyone's cup of tea.
 
Had a few out on the Sonubait Hemp and Halli, but it only worked on one swim on the WA, first put in you would get a wrench round result either a chub or a barbel, never caught on it anywhere, else, or the cheesy flavours,:confused:
 
im all for hair rigging also but having blanked first few days of the season i went prepared to dabble with new baits and tactics, even set up a trotting rod:eek:
but still the good old hair rig paid off:p
been using the sonubait spicy sausage hair rigged with good effect

Same. It's a mighty fine pellet is that.
