Morning all,
I wanted to put a review up of a my Experience of a rod builder I came across when looking at having my chub rod built.
I landed on a guy called John Hennessy (AKA Hennessy rods) he’s done a few bits out of the tackle box for me in the past and had noticed he set up his own things so gave him a shout. It was also a fairly easy choice after seeing the quality and different things that he had come up with via his instagram account, it’s class work that I personally really like it’s the small details and the hand crafted details he does I don’t see so much any more.
It first started when I reached out with the information of the rod and the history John was engaged and hooked, he worked with me to a point where he got what was out of my head into his. That’s when the fun started we batted back on forth with cool fun ideas, it really bought the fun and magic to the situation.
At this point I actually had a few issues with some rods that needed rebuilding as they had been to hell and back with me chasing round carp across the country, so I decided to drop those on him as well, I wanted a subtle rod with a something a bit different again he got the MO completely and as a pleasure to work with.
Now in possession of my carp rods back I couldn’t be be more pleased the attention to detail the workmanship is perfect. The thread work and cork details all matching seamlessly on all 3.
John kept me in the loop had a timely turn around, and just overall great guy up and coming builder in my eyes, young with a desire to build first class rods.
Attached are the carp rods and will post the fished chub rods also when he sends the photos there are something special!
To add I have no affiliation or anything with John I just chose the right person and wanted to pass on my thoughts for those looking for rod builder recommendation as I have been so happy with the service and quality received I wouldn’t change one thing about the work that’s been given and I feel that’s rare these days so much so he had a queue of my work to do when money permits

He’s got some wicked ideas in the pipe line as well he’s just getting started so excited to see what it offers

I am trying to convince him to join the BFW forum as well as he loves his river fishing as much as the next person.
