That second one is the 'mighty tidal Trent' at Sutton if I'm not mistaken.
Far from the raging beast which everyone describes it as.
Can someone enlighten me as to why you would possibly need more than a couple of ounces of lead to hold bottom and why would you need to have the rods stuck up like that when if they were pointed straight at the water the line could follow the contours of the bottom and be out of the way of the odd barge.
Edit: Something else about that bottom picture disturbs me. A proper tackle tart would make sure that not only were the reel handles in the same position but also the bail arms are arranged so the line rollers are at the top and the line leaves the reel parallel to the rod not at an angle to it.
