Have you enjoyed the closed season ?

I'm currently hating the closed season, as the thoughts of the new one are keeping me awake at night! Am I alone in this?

Nope, it's the same for me every year....all the planning, fretting about bait, and which swim to go for (TRY to go for :() on the 16th....makes me a nervous wreck. Can't think why though, 'cos a blank is still a blank :D

Cheers, Dave.

Not long now starting to sort tackle out tie some new rigs come the15th I will be like a kid waiting for christmas as I have for the last forty odd years IF the fishing is tough so what I Will be on the river trying to catch my beloved barbel Good luck and tight lines to all of BFW anglers

Alan:)

Yes, definitely enjoyed the close season. I've been fishing three times, on a stillwater, and not really enjoyed it. I should have taken out the fly rod, but have had other fish to fry (for want of a better expression :)). I'm still to get my club card for the coming season, plus a bag of boilies, so with all the prep the season pretty much starts now.

Last season (my third after the noble barbel) was really poor, mainly because of the cold and prolonged winter. Didn't get much of a chance from the end of November, when Jan Feb and Mar are usually productive.

Good luck to all those out this season.....I hope it's a positive experience for you all. Having browsed the Gt Ouse thread, it all looks pretty doom and gloom down there.

Really enjoyed the close season especially last Saturday at Twickenham, heart in mouth stuff!!!.

Kicking off on the Severn this year for the first four days then back on my beloved Upper Trent. Can't wait

Went to Cuba for 2 weeks - First time i've blanked in the carribean !

Been catching quite a few Tench on the float using a centre pin recently - thanks been very enjoyable !

Been doing quite a bit of walking along the new beats of the river Wye that i will be able to fish this season - looking forward to that challange

But unless we get some rain i cant see me going down the river for a while !

Dave

Instead of some carping in closed season I "updated" my float & feeder tackle and even brought maggots weekly.... Has some fun watching float go down with small roach, rudd and a few tench on hook. Lately have been catching some nice bream on feeder..reminded me of Ireland in 90's before mortgage.

As rivers out of sorts I an carrying on fishing stillwaters till August.
