Had some custom rods made recently

Been roped into joining a 1acre carp lake locally and struggled to find any decent carp rods that I liked. Too much choice and ironically the best blanks I came across were the ones on the £45 Advanta rods !!!

Came across a rod builder in Wales and he’s just built these for me.

11ft 2.25lb Harrison “Baby Balista” blanks in burgundy with cork handles. Wanted a modern / retro look hence the colour. I’m partnering them with a pair of Daiwa SS2600’s so they will hopefully look the business.

Should be perfect for floodwater Barbel fishing too in the Autumn.

Ballistas, such a fantastically underrated blank. Proper players rods..

I think somebody told me that Dave Lumb’s Standard Specialist Harrisons are the same blank as the Ballistas? I have two of the 204s, the unground wrap of the carbon is very retro but I really like it

Yes the Harrison standard specialist blanks are the specialist range of the Ballista blanks.

I really like the older tech Harrison rods, such as the standard specialists, interceptors & GTI's. Underrated rods that are great to fish with.
