Guru dual tip specialist rods

Hi guys.

So this season I've switched over to the Guru dual tip specialist rods, I currently have the 1.25 and will be getting the 1.75

For those who have used these rods or own them, are they true through action? I've only ever really used korum rods and a couple of the Drennan specialist rods and both didn't feel as soft as these Guru rods. It's taking a while but the action of the 1.25 is growing on me, well, I'm getting more used to it. Seems less floppy with the quiver section fitted with the fast carbon tips. I've had a waggle of the 1.75 and again, it felt softer than what I've used before but i look forward to getting one.

I used the 1.75’s for a while and loved them. Through action without feeling ‘floppy’
Lovely action during playing a fish with plenty in the butt. Will cast 3oz as far as you need and will handle 4oz with a ‘lob’. The quiver section is great for Chub or distance feeder fishing on lakes. Great, well made rods that are hard wearing and feel better than their price range that i think you will be pleased with (IMHO)

Thanks Nigel, took me a while to try one, I just didn't know what I wanted and the more modern styling of them with the cork/foam handle put me off the looks a little.

I had tried the new Drennan barbel rod and was disappointed after such a long wait for them, felt just like the £50 range of Korum rods. Thought about just getting another basic korum rod but the newer 3k range are heavier and feel like a step down to the rods they replaced.

So finally just went for the Guru rods. The softness of them was something I almost let our me off getting one, but I'll see how I like them once there's a fish on the end. I'm not casting far, just fishing small rivers (W.Avon) the 1.25 might even be on for summer when it's low and then I'll break out the 1.75 for autumn and winter.

I've heard theres a 2.75 coming in the range too if I (or anyone else) needed a heavier one over the 2.25.

I doubt you’ll be disappointed, great during the scrap. Yes, full through action but plenty in the butt section so you always feel in control. I was a bit unsure at first as they are a ‘match’ company but soon got over it. I’ve ‘upgraded’ to Freespirit Barbel tamers but unless they perform well when the season starts, already almost regret doing it! (Not used them yet)

Yeah I saw that post, the Tamers were very high on my list but I kept seeing posts about how soft they were. I've moved most of my tackle over to Guru/Korda now, I just lost a bit of confidence in all my Korum stuff, especially end tackle.

It's daft because of how long I've been fishing and my time in the tackle business but I was always unsure of through action rods, like, if they bend easy then where does any extra power come from when you need it?

Interesting stuff Mark, i too fish the WA and although Barbel are in ever short supply now I still live in hope and always pack my Torrix 11ft 1.75 for mainly the evenings when as you know gives a better chance of a bite. Of course we all like to think our choice of rods / tackle was a shrewd one but I have bought too many rods and well perhaps will use only a few times and then consign to the loft.

The one rod that will never see the loft will be my Torrix it is 'made' for the WA and I can even remember the way it handled some big barbel from the river a sheer delight, the action is spot on, I don't know too much about the science but I know a great rod that suits me.

I love my lighter set ups fiddling around with a feeder or just a simple bomb and for me the Korum all rounder is just fine and at a price point that can be reassuring.

I know a couple of guys who absolutely clean up on the Avon at Barton most trips, although I don't know how they do it as in the past 2 seasons I can count the amount of barbel I've had on one hand 😂

I'm terrible for buying rods, I always think there's something better so buy one and then find what I had previously did the job just fine or that I preferred over the new one. I'll stick with the guru rods for now though for a while, at least the 1.25 version will double up as my feeder rod with the quiver section.

But everything I owned before has almost been sold now and I'll just have the 2 guru speci rods and then I fancy getting the N-Gauge pro float rod eventually.

Love Barton, it has everything with a weir thrown in too. Yes I am easily seduced by others who recommend whatever...but at least on here it comes with sound knowledge.

We'll maybe have to try and arrange a meet up, I wouldn't mind seeing a Torrix in the flesh.

Very least you can have a good laugh at my angling skill (I'm very good at casting into trees)
