Cost me 52 quid Inc. Postage for a new top section formineto make up a pair.
Bigcon this free lifetime guarantee.

Interestingly I was in there yesterday. Guy came in to get a section changed, which he said was an "inperfect" repair. He said that he hadnt used the rod since it was fixed.

The lassie pointed out that the section was dirty, with mud on it, and the rod bag was wet/damp......

I think this may be why the guareentee charges are high, like everything else we insure there are people out there trying it on all the time.

I have taken Hardy rods back 3 times in the last 40 odd years for mainly wear and tear repairs all covered under the "guarentee" and have yet to be charged anything......

I broke a couple of rings on one of my pike rods. It was my fault and i didn't try to hide that when i contacted them. Because the rod was less than a year old and i could supply proof of purchase, they replaced the whole top section for free. I thought that was very impressive, however any repairs/replacements appear costly after 12 months.

thanks erek

clive , so that was £52 to get a new section delivered ??

thats right stu, because it was just out of the 12 month gaurentee and was snapped as i stood on it packing them away (3 piece versions bought as a gift ).
40 quid for the top avon section, plus 12 quid gaurenteed next day delivery before 9.
yes,quite a lot i must admit,but it gives me 2 lovely rods.

Stu, cost me 40quid for a top Avon section, got it replaced then sold em on.Bit pricey me thinks, and that was a second tip that had snapped on the greys.:(

How can they advertise their rods have a lifetime warranty if they then charge you for a replacement section? £40-50 for a section of a 3 piece rod that cost around £120 in the first place sounds like you are basically buying a new section to me!
