Greys rod ready holdhall

Hi guys,
I'm in the process of buying a new rod holdhall for my two river barbel rods.
My mate has the Greys prodigy rod ready holdhall, and he says its fantastic quality except for the fact that main rod area is too short.
Which amazes me when the write up on the greys website states that this particular holdhall has an extra long rod compartment for ease of putting two peice rods in. It says it's 6ft 2 " long.
I was wondering whether or not someone else has this same problem with this holdhall or is my mates a faulty one.
It's either this holdhall or the fox fx tri sleeve but this is double the cost.
If any one has the greys rod ready holdhall and has had the same problem with not getting rods in it.
I'd appreciate your views.
:)

i've used one, still have it here but don't use it any more gone back to quivers.. the rods are a bit on the tight side though

they are heavy for there size and if your short like me do not carry well dragging on the floor.the best balanced 2 rod holdall the nash nomad good carring position for us shorties :D

My 12' rods fit into my Korum Total Protection quiver...but it is a bit of a squeeze. I just don't understand why they do things like that. How much more would it cost to make holdalls/quivers 1" longer...which would mean the rods would be a doddle to get in, which in turn would mean that we would all be giving the thing glowing reviews, rather than justifiably moaning about this annoying issue. It makes no sense at all to me.

It is almost as though the designers are not aware that for a rod to be 12' long once assembled, the two halves have to average 1.5"<2" longer than 6'...to allow for the fact that the male section fits into the female section by 2" to 3". Surely they do know that........................don't they?

Cheers, Dave.

Steve,
I have got the Greys Prodigy holdall and agree with what your mate has said .
I have used mine for both my Greys barbel rods and carp rods and although you can get away with it it is noticable that the length is a bit tight and should ideally be 1 - 2" longer as David pointed out.
My only suggestion would be to take your rods into the tacle shop if possible and trying them in the holdall itself.

Yeah I agree, the fact is also I'm this case it actually says on the greys website that this particular rod holdhall as an extra long main compartment for ease of getting rods in and out.
So god help owners if it was just normal size!:)

I just brought the new cotswold aquarius stealth sleeve well worth checking out if you like to go light. Carrys 2 rods on outside. Landing net handle through the centre of it and banksticks in outside pockets great bit of kit lads.

dont know what made up rods you would carry in it though derek? at 125cm length, you wouldn't even get a two piece 10 ft rod in there

My Drennan Specialist quiver has been going for years now - very robust and carries two rods plus banksticks, landing net handle etc. Rods will need tip protectors but at the price it's very good.

Have the Greys (2 rod) myself. Had several different 12' rods in there from Daiwa, Shimano, JW Young, sometimes three at a time. No issues with the length.

After using the Fox three rod quiver, I have bought another three as they are brilliant, quite a few of us at Throop are now using these.

Three rods plus two generous side pockets that are on the opposite side, a very good strap that can be fitted on either side.

And a good size space that will accept a Korum storm brolly.

Around £30 or cheaper.

Brian.

PS.................Why do I need 4 rod holdalls.

One for my Barbel rods.
One for my float rods.
One for my lake rods.
One for Tina's broomstick.

Does anyone have any recommendations of any 2 made up rod - rod holdalls that may have come onto the market since the last post on this topic - over two years ago. I was looking online earlier today at the Korum Total Protection 2-Rod Quiver but after reading the post on Page 1 it seems that it may have the same too short in length issues as the Greys Prodigy model that I have .

I've got the Korum 2 rod Total Protection.Have used it with 12' Greys,Fox and Drennan rods, but only with 4000 sized reels.I use the Korum 2 rod quiver(no longer available I believe) for my barbel fishing as long walks are involved and need to travel as light as possible.

Second the Drennan specialist quiver bag had it for years and still many session left in it. For my Acolytes i use the Drennan 2 made up rod bag. The one with the light blue piping. Well padded and gives you a few inches more in length for 12ft rods. Only let down no shoulder strap, only a handle.
