Great Angling Mysteries

Has there ever been a carp rod produced that wasn't described as 'strong enough to punch out leads to the horizon, yet soft enough at the tip to absorb the fight'
 
Why does every tv angler coming walking up to the water talking and carrying a tiny rod bag and rucksack, yet one minute later they are sitting in an armchair in front of a two man bivvy with three rods and seven bait buckets?
 
Why did I learn to keep quiet on the bank around about age 12, yet three quarters of the anglers who ask me if I've caught anything still haven't learnt it at aged 60?
 
well david, alot of anglers wont walk to far with there gear,because they will be tired and sweating to death, but some anglers will put in the time and effort to try and find a virgin peg, lol but you could also blank ????? and the the thought of a mile or so walk back to ure car is a nightmare, by the way lads some good question and interesting answers,
 
Why when walking the bank asking fellow anglers 'any good?', do you always get the reply 'Nope, only been ere 10 minutes'.
Does everyone arrive 10 minutes before me????

Must be the same geezers I met fishing a VERY exclusive carp lake Steve. On my first visit I walked the water on my voyage of discovery, and stopped to chat when that looked appropriate...and was NOT made welcome :D One had a dripping landing net and a wet, slimy unhooking mat...but assured me he had caught nothing :rolleyes:

why is catching no fish and an unfurnished rod both called blanks ? should we wear prptective clothing when fishing the bomb !!

It would seem a reasonable idea Cliff...especially if 'the action is explosive', the fish 'taking off like a train'...and the anglers around you are using 'killer baits'....and 'the anglers staying on the bomb are being punished by those using the stick'. Sounds a dangerous hobby all in all :D

When a Pike takes a bait and swims off why is it called a " run " and not a swim ?
I have caught plenty of Pike, but never yet landed one with legs.
