Grauvell specialist rod

Clive Shipman

Senior Member & Supporter
Grauvell specialist flood or 1.75tc anyone know of a stockist in the UK or Europe. Regards Clive

Don't mean to trump you Stuart, but once had a 15lb barbel of my 1.25tc torrix also 6lb line while chub fishing on the Kennet, bloody nuisance fish

If there are no snags close by and you have plenty of room, and are using balanced tackle, then you can land almost anything on 6lb line. To keep the ball rolling, I once caught a 25.10 river carp (and THEY go a bit!) on a 14' Bruce and Walker CTM match rod...and 6lb line.

Oh, and no...I didn't play it to exhaustion! Can't remember exactly how long it took, but not too long, and it nearly beat me to death on the mat, lol.

Cheers, Dave

Clive... i took a trip up to J&K tackle in Bicester to buy some grauvell rods a few years ago, they were main stockists and had a good selection of stuff... nowadays not sure? might be worth a bell though..

Dave - that's quite a story. The 'big fish on light tackle' stories one hears from time to time can be really inspiring, particularly to younger angler (I'm not one, but remember reading them in the AT in the 70s).

Clive - I just grabbed a pdf of their 2016 catalogue and can't see any rods that are barbel-related, even though they have in the past.
