Goog budget barbel rods

Hi all
I’m looking for good budget Barbel rods
For the Trent and Thames, I have 2x 1.5tc at present for smaller rivers but like to add for larger rivers. There are lots of rods available online, if anyone has experience of using these rods.

Korum Barbel

The new 3K series are quite thick blanks and heavier than the version they replaced despite the blub saying otherwise, but, you can't go wrong with them at the price.

Korum must have sold loads of them over the years now in the various versions.
 
AD are doing the shakespeare Barbel rods for £32. Cheap as chips and probably a better rod than the Korum (deffo no worse)

I have to agree that the Korum rods are probably the ‘best selling’ but what does that prove? It’s purely a price thing rather than a quality thing imho. They are a good price and they ‘do the job’ but i think they feel more like a cheap Carp rod being used for barbel if that makes sense?
Might just be me and my dislike of them as a company but they are the JML or Ronco of the tackle world in my eyes 🤣
 
I have just looked at the Korum 2lb tc which I g found to stiff and tip to thick! I properly need to spend to acquire a Rod with nice action. Any ideas ?

Daiwa Powermesh 12’ 1.75tc.
Secondhand on eBay or Marketplace.
Will cost you more than a Korum but a brilliant rod, which you can move on at a later date and not lose money if you fancy upgrading.

Isn't this the current state of most off the shelf barbel rods? They are all like carp rods, even 1.75 versions.

I waited ages for the Drennan to release theirs and then found them just like the Korum versions

I feel most Barbel rods these days are built for Carbelling style and if you want a light in the hand, fine tipped rod then you are not left with many choices but something like a Torrix (only guessing here as I've not seen one in the flesh). Either that or we just use rods far too heavy?, a 1.5lb rod should deal with most Barbel surely?

I wouldn’t want to cast a 6 or 8 oz lead with a1.5 test rod……

Try fishing a big river when it is bank high.

PS I’m old enough to remember when standard carp rods were 1.75 test. They worked just fine with 1.5 or 2oz leads.

They worked just fine with 1.5 or 2oz leads.yes I agree that barbel rods are like carp rods i suppose it’s just the name , I want a rod that is responsive with good action and not like a broom stick , I guess the torrix chimera Diawa free spirit rods are the business with the costs,

Have a look at the fox eos 2.25 I have a pair and to be honest a lovely rod with a nice action for about £60 quid apiece cant fault them coupled with a pair of the early korum 3k 2.50 test curve rods for flood water I find it's all I need. I have used these rods week in week out on the Trent for three or four years and never a problem , but I must add to keep away from the fox x4 2.75s as I bought two of these on the strength of my fox Royales / eos and not fit for purpose but that's another story
