Gear stolen River Trent

John Smith 2

Senior Member
Whist fishing a private and gated section of the Trent near Newark today, our car had the window put through and hold-alls containing rods etc were stolen. Mine was a Gardner quiver with a fox specialist 45 brolly, banks ticks, and a mint Fox floodwater(ard 008, the original)with a shimano 5000 gte.
My mates was a Tf gear quiver, 45 brolly, bank sticks and a brand new Mark Tunley2.25 Harrison chimera custom build with. Shimano 5000gte.
As the river was well up we were doing a bit of roving with matching set ups.
The thieves were apparently Gypos on a quad bike that we saw speeding away across fields. Police apparently gave chase in Newark and the quad was found overturned and one of them apprehended.
However, as of yet there is no news of anything going to happen and even less chance of our gear being found.
It's gutting to lose your gear and even more depressing when you know you are fishing somewhere that's as secure as it could possibly be.
Looking now to replace stolen items with like for like if anyone has anything.
Sorry to have to remind you of what scumbags there are in the area , please be wary.
Regards John

Thats an absolute shame John. These scumbags have been at it for years...

Stolen gear

Thanks John
Winds you up even more when they apprehend one of them but because he comes up with the no comment routine, he is eventually released and you are no nearer to knowing where your gear went.
Regards

Frustrating John,..there doesn't seem to be a year that goes by without someone on here suffering a similar fate. Personal thieving is the pits,..sword, hands, chop comes to mind!
The hard lesson is never leave gear in the motor,..some of my mates who work on building sites actually leave their van doors wide open to show the lowlife that there's nothing to pinch!

Very bad news nothing is safe not even in SAFE parking spots. the police cuts seem to have made them not bothered about rural crimes and angling crimes like this are lucky to even get a response.

Very sorry to hear this John i fish 2 gated sections near Newark was it Newark Piscos stretch or Naa by any chance.

As i have mentioned before i have had my gear stolen 3 times - insurance stumped up twice. I just wonder who buys the stuff as it seems to happen quite frequently and Flebay does not now seem to be a source of stolen kit and i checked the second hand web dealers. Nothing more frustrating than have the personal stuff taken.

Hi John I know how u feel I had my shed robbed last year and they took everything. I hope u find him and give him a belt. What I meant about karma is that what goes around comes around.

Thanks for this John. I fish the Piscatorials stretch a lot. Was it East Stoke by any chance as a quad bike could easily get under those gates.

Where does it go, car boots, my ex neighbour had his nicked and two weeks later it was on sale at a local car boot.

"A quad bike could easily get under these gates":eek::eek: What the hell kind of gates are they Paul...a quad bike is huge!

Cheers, Dave.

Sadly its been the scourge of the newark area for years. The late 80s were terrible, especially when the banks were still full and now its en vogue again they are back on the prowl. Really feel for you John, wish I could help too.

Couldn't A group of regulars not get together, and lay a trap, a car/van full of supposedly valuable gear, but really only sh**e. Surround the said vehicle, wait for the quad bike, then kick the ************* out of them, strip them naked, and lash them in the river. May f**K your swim for a bit, but wouldn't it be worth it ? I,d be more than happy to volunteer. Give us a shout if ya want some backup. :)

Sorry for your loss John S 2.

People may give scousers loads of stick, ( wheel hubs etc, old hat ) but we would not tolerate such a situation, if it arose, on a local river/lake, i promise you, a solution would be sought. Get your heads together lads, and eradicate the problem.

Probably unwise as the culprits are 'travellers' (allegedly) and the whole camp would make very bad enemies. Leave it to our Constabulary I reckon!

Gear stolen

unfortunately the law doesn't seem to work for the likes of us anymore. One of these low life's was caught but released later after keeping silent!

They will do next to nothing if they are like the ones round here, our town has had a problem with pikies all summer, the police have ignored damage they have done even to the extant of standing by while pikie kids assaulted a woman in front of them and even escorting them to camp illegally on council land yards from peoples homes. thieving scum that seem to be above the law.
