Garlic Spam

I called into Lidle for some fruit this morning and found a shelf groaning under the weight of half a dozen cases of Garlic Spam........Fill your baskets lads.

£1.49 for a 340g can works out at less than £4.50/Kg.....Not bad for the original boiled bait.:D

Craig...have you had much luck on the Black Pepper....I found when I used it that I ate more than I used on the hook !! Very moorish......The garlic version will at least stay in my baitbox !!

I used to have the same problem when using mussels for chub. The way I got round it was to freeze them twice, thereby making them unsafe for human consumption!

Good call, picked up a tray today. I'm also interested to see if anyone has had success with the black pepper variety, I got a tin just on the off chance.

cheers
Al

Alan, I have used the Black Pepper variety more than the garlic variety, and had a few fish on it from different venues. It does smell good, and it is very tasty, so i just make sure i have enough pack up with me! :)

Not to be found in the Brighton store, clearly too posh down here for spam. The mythical bait will have to remain untried

Garlic spam and lunchy

I can't believe that people actually eat this stuff, I thought that it was sold solely for fishing purposes and for feeding to pets as an alternative to chum, whiskas etc. Still I have heard of people eating kit e kat sandwiches (true), so why not lunchy?

you must be a southener sir ,spam is a delicacy ,most excellent dipped in batter and deep fried mmmMMm spam fritters & then thers spam & brown sauce butties and tesco's does a nice luncheon meat & egg roll (spam with egg through its middle ) meat slices for sandwiches . or theres polony a slicing sausage (basically spam) that is pure delicious (i eat more than the fish do)

but garlic spam is only fit for fish food (available from netto also @ £1.49p) .black pepper is great fried as part of a fry up .

Clearly I don't know what I've been missing. Spam does seem to be a great deal more versatile than I had originally thought.
