I have a friend who has a house in the Loire Valley near Chinon....Can anybody give me any pointers about local barbel fishing particularly in the River Vienne....Not asking for "swim info" just general knowledge about stretches that I can find barbel in and local permit requirements. I can only get over there for short periods at a time so any short cuts to finding the fish would be gratefully received....:)

If you can get hold of Barbel Fisher 27 there's an article specific to the river.

I have fished the Loire and Indre (region 37) around Tours and have caught pleny of barbel. I baited up with Vitalin and caught them on standard feeder gear using corn as bait. As for location, i just used the same water craft as back home.

Cheers,

Tim
