Freespirit Pike Tamers

Ref: Pike Tamers.
I’m tempted to get a pair but have the 10ft ‘e’ class Carp rods which are lovely to use but feel slightly under gunned (more like 2.75’s?) but suit me for the smaller waters i fish. I also have the 12ft Barbel Tamers which again are lovely rods but feel like tank aerials. Again, under gunned (more like 1.5’s). I know the Barbel Tamers are proper thru action so will ‘flop’ a bit but just concerned the Pike rods are going to be similar?
Has anyone used them? I’ve been lucky enough to obtain 2 days (bank fishing) on Chew later in the year and fish the large Lake District lakes a few times each season so want a decent pair of 12ft rods that will do the job without breaking the bank

Some decent info on this link

Is there much difference in the .25lb extra? I’m tempted to go for the heavier ‘big baits’ version…..pity i can’t have a waggle locally. Sick of buying rods by description and having to buy replacements the following season. My experience is pushing me to step up but dont want a poker 🤷‍♂️

I think the comments from people who own them seemed pretty useful tbf but it’s an old thread
I have DLST rods so can’t comment on the FS ones but if you compare an X1 to a BB350 in his range there is a big difference - the BB350 is a specific big baits/ long cast tool , the X1 you could use for most pike fishing scenarios. There are better rods for river work but it would be a decent rod if you only wanted a capable rod for a few days a season
To me it looks similar with the FS rods

Nigel I have these. I bought them years ago when they came out. Considering I mainly fish rivers they were not a good buy! They are heavy in the hand and yes they are slow action. I used them last year at Chew and they threw a half Mackerel with a 3 oz lead a good distance so for bank fishing on lakes and reservoirs they are well suited. For the fishing I do though I much prefer a lighter rod and really like my Dave Lumb P2's which are 11' 2 1/2lb tc.

Thanks, i want them for bank fishing on large lakes so perhaps they’ll be well suited (all the reviews seem to think so). For boat & river i use my 10ft Drennan 2.75’s which are perfect and the price they are, i dont mind them getting knocked about on the boat or shoved through bushes on the river. I also use a bait boat for dropping the bait when necessary (too big or too far out) so it’s picking up the line at distance and the right playing action as much as chucking out a sprat 50yards.
I’ll go for the FS 3.25 (big bait) i’m sure they’ll be fine
