Hi Everyone.
We’ve just had notification of a immediate price increase across the board with Freespirit due to massive import and manufacturing costs.
Everything is going up 10% or there abouts.
Today is the last day of being able to purchase the match rods at the old price as they will be changed for tomorrow.
The Carp and Specialist rod increases will follow in a few days.

Everything is ramping up in price.
I work for a company that manufactures and sells top end welding equipment and we’ve just announced a huge price increase across the board. Raw materials and extra shipping processes and costs have rocketed

Tbh Dave, I think a lot of it is just market correction. There’s been next to no inflation for the last decade over many areas. Demand is out stripping supply and the power balance is changing.

It's been open season on raw material increases with pretty much all materials going through the roof e.g. PVC compound has at least doubled in cost in 2021 as a shortage in polymer. Whether this is deliberate or not , who knows? Same on steels & rubber but increases not as high.
Container costs have increased dramatically, as an example I think we were bringing in a 20' container from the Far East pre Covid for $1500 ish
Same container now can be anywhere between $6000 - $10000. I heard this week of $18000 being paid.
India in lockdown for a good part of 2021 and still catching up, who knows what goes on in China but capacity has reduced and big controls and taxes on emissions etc. Certainly it has been the Great Reset in the industry I work in. Never known anything like it.
Goods in hand are worth more than money in the bank and it's a sellers market; if you have it, invariably you will sell it and for more cash.

I’m rather lucky that my business is labour intensive but it’s relatively light on materials. That said, my main supplier sent me a price increase justification letter recently where they claimed that one of the main raw materials (N-butanol) that goes into the lacquers they produce has gone up by 340% from this time last year. Resins up 36% this year and even the packaging costs are up by 40%.

If you’ve got any savings and there’s a big ticket item of tackle you’ve long lusted after but restrained yourself then now’s the time to buy it, I guess. Chances are it will prove a far safer bet than money.

Agree with above - UK manufactured blanks put together by UK rodbuilder, I'm going to order another pair of rods I don't need but do see it as a bit of an investment. Just speaking to a shooting pal who paid £11k for a 2nd hand gun 2 years ago and he reckons it's increased in value.
My boss has bought 2 Ferrari's in lockdown and both increasing in value, say they've gone up 10% - probably £40-50k profit.
And we wonder how the rich get richer??

So, all those who voted to leave the EU; this is your reward.

Even if the blanks are manufactured in the UK, the materials will mostly be imported.
I see zero evidence that Brexit has worked in our favour for sure but this is a global issue, compounded by goods also get held up in Europe due to paperwork , shortage of drivers, leaves on the lines etc..

Maybe it's time to start manufacturing blanks here in the UK again.

Crikey 😳
Been thinking about selling my spare Hi S specialist rods as I only normally use one at a time ,so the spare ones never get used .Dont know why I always buy them in pairs ???
SU,BW,HW. That's a big increase on rods like these ,the 13ft heavy water normally £385 would jump to £425 🤔.
They will price themselves out the market if this continues.😳
