Free Spirit Hi-'S' Specialist Rod 12ft 1.75lb SU

Good Evening ladies and gents. Thinking of getting a pair of these for my summer/low water barbel fishing on the Thames in Surrey as well as smaller rivers like the Loddon. Although mainly targeting barbel, the stretches do contain some monster Chub also. Looking at these as potentially my all rounders. I’m torn between these or the Hi S 2lb TC versions. Any advice or reviews would be appreciated.

I’ve got my floodwater rods sorted so just need an “allrounder” Thank you

I use both the Hi S SU and the Hi S 12ft / 'Barbel' 2lb for 90% of my barbel fishing these days, and I'd say the Hi S 'Barbel' 2lb is not an uprated version of the Hi S SU. They are different rods, IMO. They are both light and slim, but I'd say the Hi S SU is much faster. The Hi S SU is only 'very soft through action' if you're comparing it to something 'sticky' like a Torrix (1/75/11ft).
I'd describe the Hi S SU as fast tipped with a seamless progressive through action (and the best rod I've ever used).
IMO

“Sticky”….. torrix 11 footers aren’t sticky at all. They are little gems with a back bone 😉
